For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated with glass. Perhaps it was because of the years my parents took me to see many European castles and cathedrals. From simple beads to beautiful stained glass windows, I take every opportunity to stop, look, and collect. Finally taking a stained glass class, I have moved forward with great enthusiasm into the world of working with cold and warm glass.
I am the Manager of The Glass Resort, 6836C English Muffin Way, Frederick, MD. Opened in 2014, The Glass Resort is a flame working studio with Carlisle Hellcat torches, soft and borosilicate glasses for sale, along with tools and consignment items from local artists. We have classes and other events. Please visit our Facebook page and www.theglassresort.com for more information.
I also serve as the President of The Frederick Hot Glass Society. The Frederick Hot Glass Society was started by several local artists with the passion for hot glass who wanted to share ideas and experiences with other glass artists. I have been published several times in The Flow and Glassline magazines for my photos as well as in The Flow magazine’s Annual Gallery of Women in Glass (2010-2015).
I am also a featured writer each month for the Artisan Jewelry Times magazine (www.artisanjewelrytimes.com) with an article about fabulous pieces of jewelry. In the February 2016 issue, I was the featured artist - the magazine included an article about my work (entitled "Creating Beauty in Borosilicate") along with a tutorial for a borosilicate bead and a necklace that includes that bead. In 2012, I wrote an article for Glassline Magazine about the Art Glass Invitational (AGI) describing the event which happens each year at The Glass Blowing Center in Hilliards, PA. The magazine used some of my photos for this event along with other events over the years.
